Prayer Band
The City Wide Prayer Band will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 12th at the St. Matthews Baptist Church. Wood Drive and Chicago Streets in Okmulgee. The public is invited to attend. Rev. David Burks is the Prayer Band pastor.


Bean Dinner/Bake Sale
The Ladies Auxiliary and the Okmulgee VFW invites the public to come to the bean dinner and bake sale on Friday, June 13th from 11 a.m. to 1:30 at the VFW Post Home, 1427 N. Okmulgee. Come and support our veterans!


Free Clothing Giveaway
Harvest Christian will give out free clothing this  Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. The church is located at the corner of  McKinley and Loop 56.


Benefit Garage Sale
The Okmulgee Community Church, 13th and Chickasaw, will hold a benefit garage sale Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14, beginning at 8 a.m.


Pie Sale and Ice Cream Social Fundraiser
Senior Star at Plantation House will hold a Pie Sale and Ice Cream Social Fundraiser. Now taking orders for homemade pies! The cost will be donation only, all money made will go towards our goal for the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” Pies can be picked up on Tuesday, June 24th. OHS Cheerleader Benefit

DHS Retirees
The DHS Retirees will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 11th at the Stoneblade Restaurant. The meeting will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All retirees are urged to attend.


DAV  (Disabled American Veterans)
Don Johnson from Disabled American Veterans will be at Muscogee Creek Nation Physical Rehabilitation Center, 900 E. Airport Road, Okmulgee (formerly George Nigh Rehabilitation Center) to assist area veterans and their families in applying for VA Benefits on Wednesday June 18, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.


First Baptist Church South 6th Annual Car Show
First Baptist Church South in Beggs will hold their 6th Annual Car Show on Saturday, June 14th on Hwy 16, 3 miles west of Hwy. 75. The event is free to the viewing public.
Events include a bbq, fish fry, refreshment, desserts, Open Mic (Christian Songs). Trophies will be awarded to the top 50 cars and trucks, top 5 motorcycles and 11 special award. The car show opens at 11 a.m. and the awards presentations is at 2:30 p.m. Registration is from 8:00 to 11 a.m.

Community Breakfast
Just a reminder of the monthly community breakfast sponsored by the Dunbar All-School Association, Inc. Mark your calendar so you will not forget. The next breakfast will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 14th at the Dunbar Learning Academy, 420 East 2nd Street in Okmulgee. Breakfast is free, no soliciting and no carryouts.


BENEFIT FOR OJFA
First Family FCU is now accepting donations to assist the Okmulgee Junior Football Association. The OJFA storage facility was recently burglarized and vandalized, totaling $3000.00 worth of damage and loss. Cheerleading uniforms, football jerseys and helmets are just a few of the items that will need to be replaced by this summer in time for football practice. Free Tutoring at Stonebridge Academy
Stonebridge Academy is excited to offer FREE reading and math tutoring for any student in the community going into 1st grade through going into 8th grade. Each child will have access to a tutor for one-on-one help. Students may register for two 45 minute tutoring sessions per week in Reading or Math, or both. Tutoring is M-Th from 9 am - 2 pm from July 7th-July 31st.  All of our tutors have at least a high school diploma and some college courses and are qualified to tutor through 8th grade Reading & Math. NARFE TO MEET
The National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 0730 will meet at the Chair Crusher's Restaurant, Intersection of 1-40 exit 237 and Dewey Bartlet Ave.(Old Hwy 62), Henryetta, Oklahoma on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. In May we celebrated our Nationally recognized Memorial Day Holiday, which honors the men and women who died while serving in the United States Military. The program will be presented by Jim Vaughn, veteran of several wars. He was shot down while in action serving our Country during World War II. Mr. Vaughn also served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Okmulgee Board Stock June 20-22
Okmulgee Lake/Okmulgee State Park will host the Okmulgee Board Stock June 20-22. The competition will consist of wakeboard, wake surf and slalom skiing. There will be prizes given for division winners, and consists of all ages and abilities. There will be fun for everyone. MCN Physical Rehab
Muscogee Creek Nation Physical Rehab Center has low and high intensity water aerobics class times and pool hours available (day and evening classes available). Arthritis Foundation offers a low intensity work-out consisting of specially designed exercises to decrease pain and increase range of motion on stiff joints. No classes or lap swim on Thursdays. Caregiver Support Group
Eastern Oklahoma Development District (EODD)/Area Agency on Aging welcome any and all caregivers to a Caregiver Support Group on the third Thursday of every month at 2:00pm.
