Carrol “Sonny” Been and Linda Been celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a host of friends and family on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 at Dewar School.The couple was married in a family member home Dewar, Oklahoma on Thursday, Oct. 24, 1963.Both graduates of Dewar High School, Sonny retired from Oklahoma Natural Gas and Linda is currently employed at Green Country Area Vo-Tech. Beens celebrate 50th anniversary
Janzens celebrate 50th wedding anniversary
Duaine and Linda Janzen, of Okmulgee celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 21, 2013. A reception honoring the couple with friends and family was held at Stone Blade Club on January 11, 2014.
The couple met in Okmulgee and were married on December 21, 1963 at First Baptist Church in Okmulgee, where they remain members. They have two children, Eric Janzen and wife Erin of Tulsa, and Angela Birmingham and husband Sean of Chandler, Arizona.
They have five grandchildren, Jacob and Kathleen Janzen of Tulsa and Madeline, Jack and Siamara Birmingham of Chandler, Arizona.
Duaine is the general manager of Harlan Motor Company where he has worked since 1978. Linda is the owner of the Dowry, Ltd. on the Square in downtown Okmulgee, which she has operated since 1978.
Olivia Craig celebrated her 3rd birthday at the Main Street Bowl in Henryetta. Those attending were her grandparents, John and Brenda Craig of Dewar, Jeff and Cathy Owen of Henryetta, great-grandparent Virginia (Memaw) and Martin (Pa-Pa) Robertson also of Henryetta; brothers John, Anthony, Aubrey and Davey Craig, sisters Lillith and Leia Howton, plus a host of other relatives and friends. The party was enjoyed by all, especially V.G.O.
Clemmie Hill Sr. celebrates milestone
Clemmie Hill, Sr, celebrated his 102nd birthday December 2nd. He enjoyed this milestone at his home with family and was especially grateful for the many phone calls from friends, neighbors, grandchildren, church members, nieces and nephews. Mr. Hill attributes his longevity to good eating habits and not worrying or stressing about things he has no control over. He is an avid television fan of football, baseball and wrestling. He attends church every Sunday, weather permitting and sits on his porch during spring and summer observing the traffic on Highway 75.
