Voters headed to the polls to cast their ballots

in numerous races across the county and state.
Locally, Okmulgee voters approved a proposition that would lift restrictions on the use of the proceeds from the sale of the council house.
Winning local races were Ron Ballard for Okmulgee County Commissioner (District 1) over his opponent Jack Bell. Cynthia Pickering won her race against Pandee Moore-Ramirez for Associate District Judge.
Statewide, numerous incumbents cruised to easy victories including Governor Mary Fallin, Senator James Inhofe and Congressman Markwayne Mullin.
Roger Thompson was elected to the Senate District 8 post while Jerry Shoemake won re-election as State Representative for District 16.

E-waste recycling event November 7-8
The City of Okmulgee  is providing a FREE Electronic Waste Recycling event to be held Friday, November 7th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 8th  from  9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at The Okmulgee Recycling Center,  located at 301 East 3rd Street  (NWcorner of E. 3rd St. & N. Muskogee Ave.)
This special event will allow the public to dispose of broken, out-of-date, or unwanted electronic items.  Most electronic items will be accepted, such as:
• Televisions
• Computers
• Computer Monitors
• Printers
• Fax Machines
• Cell Phones
• Microwave Ovens
• Radios
• Stereos
• Speakers
• Small Electric Appliances
• Telephones
The city  WILL NOT ACCEPT anything that contains REFRIGERANTS or a GASOLINE SOURCE or a RADIATION SOURCE.
This is a great opportunity to clear your electronics clutter, so load everything and come on down to the Okmulgee Recycling Center.  Employees of the City of Okmulgee will be on hand to provide assistance, if needed. MCN hosting 2nd Annual Education and Career Expo

 The Muscogee (Creek) Nation will host its 2nd Annual Education and Career Expo on Thursday, Nov. 6 at the Beggs High School Dome in Beggs, Okla., to offer participants educational and career opportunities.
The expo will allow participants to meet with college and technical school representatives, learn about employment opportunities and connect with community resources.
This event is a collaboration of the MCN Department of Education & Training, Human Resources, the College of the Muscogee Nation and Muscogee Nation Business Enterprise.
Job seekers do not have to pre-register, but are encouraged to bring a resume’ and dress for job search and possible interviews.





















The Okmulgee Police Department, in cooperation with the Tulsa Police Department, are re-releasing the attached photo array. The persons pictured are suspects in several burglaries in Tulsa, Glenpool, Preston and Okmulgee including the burglary of Beeline Liquor in Okmulgee. Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying any of the persons shown.  All of the photos in this collection have been released at one time or another. The vehicle  believed used in all of the burglaries is possible a mid-90s model Infiniti I30. Veterans Day Parade at OSUIT

OSU Institute of Technology will pay tribute to Okmulgee's veterans as the annual Veterans Day Parade is scheduled Tues. Nov. 11 at the OSUIT campus, located at 1801 E. 4th. St. The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with the parade beginning at Wayne Miller Drive. It will then head south on Covelle Blvd. and then head east on W. 1st St.  Following the parade, an honor ceremony at 11 a.m. has been scheduled in the Donald W. Reynolds Technology Center Pavilion. Additionally, there will be a dedication ceremony for the new veterans monument in front of the Donald W. Reynolds Technology Center at 11:30 a.m., with a reception following in the Donald W. Reynolds Technology Center foyer.

Obituaries
Phillip A. Noland
Phillip A. Noland passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at his Beggs home surrounded by family at the age of 79.   He was born January 30, 1935 in Kings Mill, Texas to Benjamin Earl and Inez Mae (Atchley) Noland.  Phillip married Thelma J. Smith on September 2, 1951 in Tucumcari, New Mexico.  He retired as a Master Chief in the U.S. Navy after 32 years of service.  Phillip enjoyed working as a silversmith and saddle making as a hobby.  He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Earl Noland, mother, Inez Mae Evans, and a brother, William Noland.  Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Thelma Noland, two sons, Ted D. Noland and wife Karen and their sons, Phillip and Ian and Phillip Wayne Noland and wife Tara and a brother, Charles Ramon Noland and wife Jan.  A Service to Celebrate Phillip’s life will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Beggs with his son, Ted Noland, officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice.  Arrangements and cremation services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.

Roger Dale Neal
Roger Dale Neal was born  May 12, 1953 in Okmulgee to Alferd B. and Louise (Sivils) Neal.  He passed away on Monday, November 3, 2014 in Tulsa.  Roger graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1971 and married Jeanie Fuller on August 9, 1972 in Okmulgee.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  Roger loved fishing, hunting and raising cattle.  After discharge from the Air Force, Roger worked for Nelson Electric and the O.Z. Gedney Foundry in Tulsa for fifteen years, then was employed at the T & L Foundry at Glenpool for 20 years and was currently working at Metal Dynamics Corporation in Tulsa.  
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother, Jimmie Lee Neal, grandparents, Jim Efer Sivils and Mary Aldonia (Brackin) Sivils and Preston Lee Neal and Rena (Robbins) Neal.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanie, of the home, son, Jason Neal of Andover, Kansas, a daughter, Christina Schmidt and husband Daniel of Okmulgee, and a grandson, Alex Neal of Cape Coral, Florida.  He is also survived by several aunts and cousins.    
A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 7, 2014 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dale Copeland officiating.  Interment will follow in the Bearden Cemetery.  Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M.  Memorial contribution may be made to the American Cancer Society in Roger’s memory.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

Marjorie Sue
Mason Fry
Marjorie Sue Mason Fry, a longtime resident of Henryetta died Saturday, November 1st, 2014 in Tyler, Texas. Funeral services were scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Kyle Kiner, pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.

Allan Theon Ellis
Allan Theon Ellis, a resident of Mounds, Oklahoma died November 2, 2014 in Mounds at the age of 64. Services are pending with Integrity Funeral Service.

Wanda Jean Rogers
Wanda Jean Rogers, 87, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014.  She was born July 24, 1927 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to the late Harley Alvin and Ollie Oletha (Strailey) Westmoreland.  Wanda lived in Tulsa for many years and worked as a beautician in her younger years and later at Zebco until retirement.  She moved to Okmulgee County in 2010 to be closer to her family.  She enjoyed square dancing and raising flowers, but most of all, she loved being with her family and was active in her nieces and nephews lives.  Wanda was a member of the Christian Church in Tulsa but after relocating she attended the First Baptist Church of Dewar.  She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Owen Cohea, second husband, Martin Rogers, and four brothers, Charles Westmoreland, Harold Westmoreland, Chalmer Westmoreland and Dee Arthur Westmoreland.  Survivors include her sister-in-law, Doris Westmoreland, of the home, nieces and nephews, Rendie Wilbourn and husband R.L. of Henryetta, Kevin Charles Westmoreland and wife Christy of Dewar, Wanda Sue Brown and husband Dodd of Schulter, Phillip Brian Westmoreland and wife Millicent of Schulter, Rick Day and wife Lynn of Edmond, Carol Westmoreland of Houston, Glenn Westmoreland and wife Yvette of Mesa, Arizona, and Lon Rogers and wife Louise of Tulsa and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
A Service to Celebrate Wanda’s Life will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 7, 2014 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee with Reverend Ryan Wells officiating.
